North Wales Mountaineering Weekend: 20th-22nd June 25

A weekend of mountaineering activity in Snowdonia, focused on having fun, learning new skills, getting out of your comfort zone, getting away from the ordinary and using the outdoors to decompress from the typical work week.

This course is aimed at the beginner to intermediate hiker looking to move into scrambling & mountaineering. A mountainerring hut in Llanberis provides a central location to plan our days.

Get away from usual 'Hamster Wheel' with 2 Days of Mountaineering including 2 nights accomodation. Learn essential advanced mountaineering skills including:

• Navigation

• Creating Route Cards

• Climbing Technical Terrain

• Placing Climbing Protection / Gear

• Simul-Climbing / Short Roping

• Abseiling• Footcare

• More

And talks around the campfire on topics such as mental health, using the outdoors for decompression, as well as training and nutrition

General Information

This weekend is open to non-members / general public for a fee.

Due to the nature of the activities we will be undertaking across the weekend participants should be of good health and have an average level of fitness.

No food is provided.

Shared accommodation is included for the weekend.

Transport to Llanberis is not supplied. Car sharing is encouraged. Should you require assistance please contact us in advance.

Your place is only confirmed when a 50% deposit has been received, unless you book within 3 months of the event. If this is the case, full payment is required.

Deposits are required in order to confirm the accommodation and instructor booking.

Friday

• 1700-1830 Arrive at accomodation

• 1900 Opening brief / intro

• 1930 Intro to Nav & Route Cards

Saturday

• 0900 Leave accomodation in minimum vehicles

• 0930 Arrive at location for First Activity

• 1000-1300 Intro to Trad Climbing

• 1300-1400 Dinner on the mountain (Not Provided)

• 1400-1700 Scramble & Technical Terrain

• 1700-1730 Return to accomodation

• 1800 Self Catering Meal (Not Provided)

• 1900 Intro to Basic Navigation (Theory Indoors)

• 2000 Free Time (Optional Talks & Fire Lighting)

Sunday

• 0800-0900 Self Catering Meal (Not Provided)

• 0900-1000 Navigation Theory

• 1000 Leave accomodation on foot to practise advanced navigation skills

• 1500-1600 Pack Up, Quick Clean and Debrief

• 1600 Aim to finish around this time due to the available daylight

Cancellation Policy 

Deposits are used to secure the accommodation and instructors and as a result are non-refundable. For remaining balances:

3+ Months’ Notice:  All but deposit is refundable or transferable to other events.

1-3 Months’ Notice: 50% of final payment refundable or transferable to other events. (does not included deposit) 

<1 Months’ Notice: Both deposit and final payments are not refundable or transferable to other events.

Mandatory Kit List

• Walking boots (waterproof)

• Day Sack 25-35L 

• Waterproof jacket

• Fleece or mid layer top

• Base layer top x 2

• Walking trousers (no jeans)

• Hat and gloves

• Torch (preferably a Head Torch)

• Two litres of water or containers of equal value

• Should you wish to have a hot drink please bring a flask

• Basic Personal First Aid (Plasters, Blister Plasters, Pain Killers)

• Food (there is a Spa near to the accomodation)
